Agnes D. Burbine, age 89, passed peacefully on October 29, 2023. She was born in Wakefield, Mass on December 12, 1933. She spent the first part of her life there. After getting her Nursing Diploma from Malden Hospital, she married Peter J. Burbine (1933-2017). They spent 63 years together and had seven (most adorable) children. In addition to raising us, she worked as a Registered Nurse at West Volusia Hospital (now AdventHealth DeLand) for over 20 years. She was, along with Dad, active members at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, as Eucharistic Ministers and in Cursillo, volunteering in the soup kitchen, resale shop along with many volunteer activities with the Knights of Columbus. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling across the country in their camper, playing Canasta with her friends, and monthly luncheons with her fellow retired nurses.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter, her parents Thomas and Catherine Daley, her siblings, Thomas Daley, Mary (Ted) Storm, Margaret (Tom) McLaughlin, Leo (Bea) Daley, Genevieve (Jerry) Howard, William Daley, Robert (Mary Francis) Daley, and Lillian (Charlie) Stohl.
She is survived by her children Michael (Betty) Burbine, Phenix City, Al., Sandra (Marty) Thomas, DeLand, Fl., Nancy Crook, Las Vegas, Nv., Linda (Doug) Shockley, DeLand, Fl., David (Lynette) Burbine, Brooksville, Fl., Mark Burbine, Bloomfield, NJ, Ann (Bill) Freeland, DeLand, Fl.
She has 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, and countless nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10am at St Peter’s Catholic Church in DeLand. There will be a reception at the church following her private family burial at Oakdale Cemetery.
