AlBerta Phanco Obituary

On December 23, 2024 with family by her side, Jesus welcomed AlBerta Phanco into her eternal heavenly home.

AlBerta was born June 24, 1937 in Erie, PA, daughter of the late Albert Vincent and Berta Lucetta Yochum Dean. She married John Robert Phanco, her high school sweetheart on July 13, 1956, John preceded her in death April 2, 1990 with 34 years of marriage.

AlBerta has resided in and around New Smyrna Beach, Florida since 1989. She was a member of First Baptist Church in New Smyrna Beach. Most Sundays she was the church greeter and over the years you’d find her as a Sunday school teacher, church clerk, helper with vacation bible school, and most defiantly in the choir.

She was employed with Florida Keys in Port Orange, until Covid, as a piano teacher and in sales. She began teaching piano lessons in 1975 in Rockford, IL where she and her husband John owned Piano and Organ Land. They loved the times they shared at the events they provided for customers and students.

AlBerta and John moved to Sycamore, IL in 1967 from Phoenix, Arizona. She was actively involved in First Baptist Church as a devout and lifelong churchgoer.

Over the years as the family grew and distance kept visits few, because of her unwavering faith, she passionately committed to praying for each family member who received amorning and evening text. She was always sending words or cards of encouragement, a scripture, and a commitment to pray. Distance didn’t keep her from knowing what was going on in our lives, and she looked forward to anytime she could spend with family.

She is survived by daughter Robin Christine (Randy) Hayes of DeKalb, IL, her son John Phanco of DeLand, Florida. Her sister Patricia Davis of Tijeras, New Mexico. She has three half brothers Charles Dean (Brenda) of Harbor Creek, Pennsylvania, Douglas Dean (Denise) Oracle, Arizona, and James Dean (Johanna) Clearwater, Florida. Two sister-in-laws Lois (Stan)LaFuria, of North East, PA, and Carol (Pat) DiMauro of Stow, Ohio. AlBerta had five dearly loved grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews that she adored.

A private family graveside service will be at the North East Cemetery in Pennsylvania where she will join her late husband,at a later time.
