Austin Lee Carey, 19 of DeLand passed away August 10, 2016. He was born in DeLand on June 8, 1997 and was a lifetime resident of DeLand. Austin was a senior at DeLand High School, where he sang with the DeLand High School Chorus and was involved with 4-H and the Meat Sheep Alliance. He enjoyed singing, psychology and saving the Florida Cracker Sheep from extinction. He is survived by his parents, Diana Carey and Chad Carey; brothers Dakota Shane Carey and Donald Andrew Freeman, II; uncles Anthony Straka, Jr., Andrew Straka and Conway Carey; aunts Chris Singleton, Cheryl Pry, Ginger Straka and Margaret Coffin; maternal grandfather Anthony Straka and paternal grandparents Carl and Carolyn Carey. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 19th from 6-8pm at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20th at 10am at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in Deland with Reverend Art Wuertz officiating.
