Betty Ann Jones passed into the presence of her Savior on July 23, 2025. For the last two decades of her life, she resided in DeLand, Florida, at Woodland Towers, where she formed lasting friendships and continued to share her gift of compassion and service.
Born on December 21, 1938, Betty devoted her life to her Savior, her family and teaching. Her 38-year career in education, most notably from 1969 to 1997 at Pierson Elementary School, reflected her deep love for children. For Betty, teaching was not just a profession, it was a calling. She cherished every student and every moment in the classroom.
Betty lived by the words of 1 Peter 4:10: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.” She did just that, faithfully serving her family, her students and their
families, and the community at Woodland Towers with grace, humility, and love. Her kindness and dedication touched countless lives and left a legacy of warmth, wisdom, and faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Peter Pappas; her mother, Sarah Greene Carlisle; her husband Jack Jones in 2005; her husband Edward Lopez in 2014, and her sister, Helen Ross Pink. She is survived by her loving sons, Mark Ziebarth (Valerie); Earl Ziebarth (Lynette); her sister, Marguerite Byrd; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Betty’s legacy by donating to or volunteering at your local school.
