Carl Horn Obituary

Carl Richard Horn age 83 passed away Thursday, October 31 in Orange City, FL. Carl was born at home in Rextown PA on November 6, 1940 to Nevin and Marie Horn. He was a 1958 graduate of Slatington High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1962. He dedicated many years being heavily involved with the Catasauqua (PA) Junior Baseball Association, where he coached, umpired, served as President, and also started the girl's softball program in the early 70's.  Carl and his wife retired to Florida in 2003 where he was an avid golfer and played Senior Softball with the Deltona (FL) Senior Softball League. He was active in his church and served in a variety of positions on boards and committees. Carl had a warm smile and a good word for everyone. Carl is survived by his wife of 38 years, Vicky, 3 sons William Farmer (Kristin-SC), Carl Horn Jr (NY), Chris Horn (PA), and two step children Michelle Bryan (CA) and Sean Doherty (Vanessa-NY). He was preceded in death by his father Nevin Daniel Horn, his mother Marie Mildred Horn and his sister Ruth Ann Lewis. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 5, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 107 S. Euclid Ave. Lake Helen FL followed by a graveside service with military honors at Deland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be sent to First Congregational United Church of Christ, PO Box 135, Lake Helen FL 32744 or to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
