Carmela (Franciosa) Burnsed

Carmela Burnsed, 95 of Pierson, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at her daughter and son-in-laws home surrounded by her loving family. 

Born on September 7, 1930, in Rochester, New York, Carmela was the daughter of the late Joseph Franciosa and Rose Franciosa.

Carmela, “Carmie” was known in town for her incredible baking, which was her passion. Her favorite thing to make was her cream cheese braids, and whenever she showed up to a gathering with them, there was never any left to take home. She loved brightening someones day through something she baked, especially the countless wedding cakes she made for couples across Volusia county, but above all she cherished time spent with her family. She always told everyone that she knew that “I have the best family in the world.”

She is survived by her daughter, Lori York; her son, Claire Burnsed; her son, Forrest Burnsed; son-in-law, George York; daughter-in-law, Rafael Burnsed, daughter-in-law Kay Burnsed, sisters, Marie Colombo and Lonie Abshire; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Carmie was preceded by her loving husband, Ralph E. Burnsed; daughter, Karen Burnsed-Bramlitt; granddaughter, Amanda Burnsed; and brother, Sam Franciosa, with whom now she is reunited.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 20th at Ebenezer Lutheran cemetery, located on the corner of US 17 and 3rd Ave. in Pierson, FL at 10am, followed by a dinner at the Ebenezer Lutheran church, located at 139 S Volusia Ave, Pierson FL 32180.
