Charles Wendell Curry

Charles Wendell Curry, 88 of DeLand passed away April 20, 2023 at the Tavares Hospice House. He was born March 28, 1935 in Willacoochee, Georgia to John and Anne Stroble Curry. Charles married Emma Claudine Livingston on June 1, 1962. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army and a fleet engineer for the Florida Department of Transportation, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed working on cars, racing stock cars and playing the guitar and singing. Loved ones left to cherish his memory are his children Kay “Cookie” Curry of DeLand; Charles Curry, Jr. of DeLand and Lewis and Judy Curry of DeLand and step daughter Laura Kay Hogg of Hawthorn; brother Robert Curry He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Emma and his parents. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29th at 12noon at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital in his name. Allen-Summerhill Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
