Cheryl A. Cooper, 74, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Halifax Hospice in Orange City, Florida. She was born on January 15, 1950 in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles and Melda (Riley) Hughes. Her family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1954. She was a graduate of Titusville High School where she was a Jaycees Junior Miss contestant. She worked for many years at NCR in Lake Mary as the benefits coordinator and in the compensation department. She was a breeder/exhibitor of miniature schnauzers traveling all over Florida and Georgia to dog shows for 25 years; her kennel name was Langwald Miniature Schnauzers. She was the former President of the West Coast Miniature Schnauzer Club. Her hobbies included sewing, photography and genealogy. She was a cancer survivor of ten years. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack Cooper; daughter, Shawn Shibles; son-in-law, Stephen Shibles and grandson, Holden Shibles of Deltona, FL; brother Tim Hughes of Charlotte, NC; sister Pamela Fish of Clermont, FL; as well as nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association in honor of her memory. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in Orange City with interment at Oakdale Cemetery, DeLand, Florida.
