Chester (Chet) Sylvester Niemann, Jr.

Chester (Chet) Sylvester Niemann, Jr. 84 of DeLand passed away May 29, 2025 at AdventHealth DeLand. He was born on April 27, 1941 in Belleville, Illinois and moved to DeLand in 1986 from Fort Pierce, FL.

Chet was a United States Army Veteran and received his Master's from Murray State University. He was a high school band director/teacher and a member of First Church DeLand. Chet was also a member and past Master of Masonic Lodge 250 in Vero Beach, Florida Band Masters, Music Educator National Conference, National Band Association, The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, and Florida Music Educators Association. Chet enjoyed model trains, music and music composition, traveling, going on cruises, visiting the Florida Keys, and conducting the Volusia Community Symphony.

He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Judy, in 2023. Survivors include sons Austin Fitts (Mindy) of Bunnell, Shawn Sepanak (Melissa) of DeLand, Daniel Wenz (Jesi) of Louisville, KY and Scott Niemann (Heidi) of Warroad, MN; daughters Laura Wenz (Paige Marie Hamilton) of Sanford and Sheryl Niemann of San Antonio, TX; sister Deanne Thompson (Stan) of Lincolnton, GA; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
