Danny George Reid

Danny George Reid, 85, of DeLand, Florida, passed away June 20, 2026, at AdventHealth DeLand. Born January 23, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, Danny moved to DeLand in 1978 from Maine. He served in the United States Coast Guard and was employed as a police officer with the City of Miami. He later worked for AT&T in its Long Lines Division before retiring as a long-distance truck driver in 1999. He earned an Associate of Arts degree in Computer Science from Daytona State College. He had a deep love for animals, especially cats and birds and he was well known for caring for the neighborhood cats. He had a special fondness for Maine Coon cats, which he collected and cherished throughout the years. He is survived by his soulmate of 66 years, Alice Reid; two sons, Robert Scott Reid and Glenn Alan Reid; five grandchildren, Susan, Wesley, Saira, Carson, and Parker; and two great grandchildren, Sonya and Elijah. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
