Dawn Fisher Godwin, 85, passed away peacefully at Halifax Health Hospice in Orange City on August 20, 2025.
Born on June 8, 1940, Dawn grew up in Jacksonville, where she met her beloved husband, Albert D. Godwin. Together, they lived in Daytona and Ormond Beach before settling in DeLand.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Al, and her son-in-law, Jeffrey Hansard. She is survived by her daughters, Lori Hansard and Jennifer (David) Griffis, and her grandson, Clay (Rachel) Griffis.
Dawn will be remembered as a creative and dedicated woman who poured her talents into her family, friends, and community. She was a school volunteer, Girl Scout leader, and an active member of the Ormond Beach Women’s Club, the Garden Club, the Junior League, and her church. After raising her daughters, she found joy in her work as an activity director for senior living communities. Most of all, she cherished her role as “Nana” to her grandson, Clay.
In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. Her family is deeply grateful for the loving care she received in recent years from so many.
Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Halifax Health Hospice or Residing Hope (formerly the Florida Methodist Children’s Home).
