Dolores Bixler

Dolores Bixler, 77, of Eustis, Fl, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on November 6, 1947, Dolores lived a life defined by compassion, strength, and service. A proud U.S. Army veteran, she served her country during the Vietnam War, continuing her calling of care and healing as a registered nurse for many years following her military service.

Dolores was deeply dedicated to her profession and was honored during her career with a Patient Choice Award — a testament to the extraordinary care, kindness, and empathy she extended to every patient she treated. Her fiery red hair matched her spirit: bold, passionate, and unafraid to stand up for what was right. Yet it was her heart of gold that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, William Bixler; her loving son, Darren Bixler; and her cherished grandchildren. Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved son, Damon Bixler, whose memory remained close to her heart.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and veteran, Dolores will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her patients, and her country. Her legacy of service, love, and resilience lives on in the hearts of those she touched.

A memorial service will be held on October 16, 2025 at Allen-Summerhill funeral home in Deland, with details to be announced by the family.
