Doreen Bernadette Nichols, affectionately known to most as Momma Dee, 67 of DeLand, passed away on August 9, 2025 after a courageous 6-and-a-half-year battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and closest friends as she made her transition from this earthly life, which is exactly how she would have wanted it.
She was born on February 13, 1958 in The Bronx, NY and moved to Central Florida in 1973. She married her beloved husband Ron in December of 1976 and they eventually made their family home in Debary where they lived for more than 30 years. Doreen worked in customer service at B.J.'s Wholesale Club for over a decade where many of her customers became her friends. She absolutely loved cooking and spending time with her beloved family and friends any chance she could. While she is no longer with us physically, her spirit lives on in the lessons she taught us and the love she shared.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ronald; sons Jonathan Richard Nichols (Chrissy) and Ronald Eugene Nichols, Jr (Traci); daughter Ronda Louise Moore (Mike); brother James DelGatto; 7 Grandchildren, and 7 great-Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16th at 2pm at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand, with a visitation from 1-2pm prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims.
