Duane "Dewey" Farrell, 88, passed away at his home on July 23, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Dewey was born in Syracuse, New York on August 31, 1935 to Florence and Andrew Farrell. Dewey lived each and every day with a Zest for life. He & his late wife Ruth, loved going on adventures all over the country - traveling the railways and exploring hundreds of destinations throughout the United States. Fueled by their love for camping, they built their very own campground at their forever home in Osteen, Florida. Dewey lived a very full life. As a proud Army Veteran, he shared countless stories of the adventures from his service and all the brothers he gained along the way. Shortly after his time in the Army, he moved to Miami Springs where he worked for Eastern Airlines for over 36 years before retiring in 1991. Dewey loved all things trains, and would build elaborate model displays of different trains and landscapes that captivated all who saw them. He had such a love for animals and his pets throughout his life, always seeing the beauty in the companionship they brought. His legacy is carried on by his brother, Andrew "Steve" Farrell (Dolores), his children, Monica Stephens (Chad), Gene Gravelle & Tom Clark, his Grandchildren, Britney Cox (Addison) & Justin Stephens, Great Grandchildren Maverick & Jameson, as well as many other cherished members of his extended family & friends. Dewey will be laid to rest at the Osteen Cemetery in a small, private ceremony. A Celebration of his life will be held on August 31st, what would have been his 89th birthday. In lieu of flowers, pay it forward and do an act of kindness for someone else in his honor, just as Dewey did every single day.
