Dumont Sidney Freeman III

Dumont Sidney Freeman, III, of Deltona, Florida, passed away on the morning of Friday, July 11th at the age of 86. Dumont was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dumont Sidney Freeman, Jr. on September 29, 1938 in Fayette, Mississippi.

Dumont attended Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History. While at Delta State, Dumont met Anita Carol Renfroe and later married in 1960. Dumont and Carol went on to have two daughters, Deborah and Sydney. Dumont served in the Navy from 1963 to 1967 and was a Lieutenant Junior Grade aerial navigator of the cargo plane, C-130, and was stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland Canada, where their eldest daughter, Deborah, was born. After his Naval service, Dumont and Carol eventually moved to Jackson, Mississippi where their younger daughter, Sydney, was born. Dumont was a loyal servant of God and was an ordained deacon at Dover Shores Baptist Church in Orlando. Dumont retired from a long and successful insurance career; beginning with Allstate in Jackson, Mississippi and retired from CNA Insurance in Maitland, Florida. His retirement years allowed him free time to enjoy saltwater fishing, working in his yard and become a self-taught investment trader.

Dumont was predeceased by his father, mother and brother, Milton Hobbs Freeman. He is survived by his wife, Carol Freeman and his daughters Deborah Henry and Sydney Wheeler and his four grandchildren; David Hobbs Ray, Alan Parker Ray, Morgan Renee Wheeler and Mark Ree Henry.

Visitation will be held at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home at 126 E. New York Ave., DeLand, FL on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 2pm to 3pm. The Memorial Service will follow at 3pm. On Friday, July 18th, a private interment ceremony will be held for the family at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family warmly requests donations be made to The Fayette Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 424, Fayette MS 39069.
