E. Kaye Hughes, 77, of Deltona Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Born in Martinsburg, West Virginia on January 23, 1948, Kaye was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the community.
She was married to Larry Hughes, her loving husband of 48 years, and is survived by her brother: Donald (Joyce) Hammond, children: Daniel (Tami) Hughes, John (Tammy) Hamel, and Catina Rooney. Kaye was a proud grandmother to John Hamel II, Jessica Hamel, Austin Hughes, Kenny Hughes, Carli Rooney, and Madeleine Harley.
Kaye devoted much of her career to the community as the County Clerk at the DeLand Courthouse, where she was known for her dedication and attention to detail.
Outside of her professional life, Kaye had a passion for painting, singing in the church choir, and baking—particularly cake decorating, which brought joy to many. Her talents, warm spirit, and love for family will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held at Enterprise Evergreen Cemetery on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
Kaye’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
