Eric Michael Kowsh, beloved son of Sharon and George and the first of their six children, blazed his own trail through this life and has now gone home to be with our Heavenly Father.
Eric was many things: an American hero who served two tours in Iraq-first boots on the ground after September 11—as a UH-60 Blackhawk Mechanic and Air Crewman in the US Army.
Eric was the recipient of numerous military honors and awards to include the Air Medal for his meritorious service during Operation Iraqi Freedom. To us, he was “E-Rok,” a wrencher, punk rock musician, lacrosse all-star, and skateboarder who never met a rail he didn’t want to grind. He grew up breathing salt air on Long Island’s South Oyster Bay, full-throttle, cutting through the marshlands and refusing to ever live life halfway. He worked hard, loved deeply, and gave his all in everything he did.
Eric will always be remembered for his authenticity—true to himself, never swayed by the crowd, and always walking his own path.
Eric's legacy will live on in the hearts of his siblings: Gregory (Mimi), Katie (Jon), Tom (Jenni), Dana (Matt), and Nikki (Thomas); in the smiles of his nieces and nephews: Jonathan, Olivia, Willow, Nolan, Avamarie, Gabriella, Thomas, and Elliana, and in the memories his many friends share.
We love you dearly, Eric. May the memory of your life comfort those who mourn until we meet again.
