Esther McEntyre Blackman passed into the presence of the Lord on April 20, 2025. Born in Recife, Brazil on July 30, 1938, Esther learned of Jesus Christ in Sunday School, trusted Him as her Savior when she was but a child, and lived a life devoted to Him for eight decades thereafter. Esther married W. C. McEntyre, an employee of Pan American Airlines, and together they had two children, Lilian, who married a minister of the gospel, and Charlie, who became a minister of the gospel. Following the death of Mr. McEntyre, Esther married Dale Blackman, who survives her after twenty-one years of marriage. Esther’s loves were attending church and singing praise to her Savior, cooking and hosting company, and showing photos of her family to anyone who would take the time to hear her tell of her beloved relatives. Esther was always cheerful, outgoing, and gracious. Both in and out of her home she manifested Christian character, and she lived by the law of kindness. She had the heart of a happy servant and always put others ahead of herself. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a dozen nephews and nieces, and countless friends who will most surely miss her. There will be a memorial service held at The Bible Baptist Church, 872 Glenwood Rd, Deland, FL on Sunday, May 4 at 6 pm.
