George Perry Snyder

George Perry Snyder, 93 of Osteen passed away August 16, 2021 at his residence. He was born in Pinetta, FL on June 28 1928 and moved to Osteen in 1937 from his birthplace. George worked for Clark and Hirt Construction in Osteen for many years as a heavy equipment operator and he built his entire house from the framing to the finish carpentry. He enjoyed going to the jam sessions off Sheryl Drive in Deltona and was an avid reader. George was a fine craftsman and loved woodworking, making clocks, cedar chests and cabinets. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, the outdoors and classic country music, especially Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. George was the best storyteller in all of Osteen, possibly the world! He was predeceased by his wife 61 years, Barbara Mae Snyder and brother Joe Snyder. He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth (Liz) Dease and husband Robert of Osteen and Bobbye (BJ) Giffen and husband Burr of Conway, SC; sisters Delores Thornton and husband Richard of Deltona and Shirley Jane Saylor of IL; grandchildren, Robert Dease and wife Alicia, Amanda Dease, Maria Atkins and husband Van, Micki Hayes and wife Audrey, and Jamie Giffen; niece Tamitia Winn; great-grandchildren Andrea, Grady, Breanna, Ashtyn, Tyler, Taylor, Madeline, Brianna and Ella and great-great-grandchild Ansley. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 23rd at 12pm at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in Orange City, with the family receiving friends for an hour prior to the service.
