Glenn Rosberg, 75, from The Bay Area,California to Orange City, Florida, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s family home on July 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Leaving us exactly how he had envisioned and planned, he went his way, as most know that was the only way. Spending his last days on earth listening to his favorite music and racecars.
Born on March 3, 1950, in Alameda County, California, Glenn was the son of John Rosberg Jr. and Alean (Estep)Rosberg (both preceded) and grew up with his big brother Delbert and little sister Cheryl. Glenn was born with a love of cars, music and nature that faceted most of his life adventures. Avoiding the draft into the Army, he and his best friend, Michael Flynn (70-year friends, birthday is 1 day apart), joined the Marine Corp together and were sent to Vietnam. Unlike a lot of soldiers, they both returned to live full lives, where many who returned did not, and they overcame the distain of being a soldier in war with the physical and emotional scars endured together and cherished their friendship and bond to the end. After his military service, Glenn came back to the bay area as a Vietnam War veteran, amputee, and a young man trying to find his way. From building his family, skills and business knowledge, to mechanics leading to a life with cars, including racecars, Glenn took every moment as a learning opportunity to enhance his life. Other than the “givens”, one of his proudest moments was winning the track championship at T-Car Speedway in 1983 in the Street Stock class. He never let anything stop him from doing what he wanted to do, as he was never a “poor me” person. Searching the world for the answers, Glenn realized that to take his destiny into his own hands he would become a business owner. Eventually, he built his life into being a successful entrepreneur, owning a mechanic shop (Reno NV.), a car lot (Pheonix, AZ), and a taxi service (Grove, OK) before retiring 100% disabled with the VA to enjoy the rest of his life, AND HE DID!!! He moved to Florida right by Daytona Speedway, helped to take care of his parents in their later years, he traveled all over, including the Redwoods Forest, Roswell and the Vietnam Wall, attended awesome concerts, spent time with family and made this time count for memories, as that is really all we really have.
Glenn was known for being a cool, strong-willed man, a never quit, and straight-to-the-point kind of guy with a sweetness in his heart that was obvious. Some could take his realistic bluntness and some could not. Ultimately, his direct nature, coupled with his dedication to everything he did, left a lasting impression on all who knew him and allowed him to live a full, free, and happy life, saying at one time, “The rest is just icing on the cake!”
His surviving family, Daughter-Brenna Rosberg Damm & SIL Scott Damm, Daughter-Gretchen Rosberg, Son-Glenn Rosberg, Son-Freddie Areia (preceded), Grandkids (Braden, Jenna, Rylee, Tegan, Dylan, & Rockie), Siblings (Delbert Rosberg & Cheryl James), BFF-Michael Flynn. Plus, many, many extended family members and friends whom he also loved. IYKYK
Glenn will be remembered for his strength, free spirit, laughter and love, his service to his country, the miles of smiles cruised all over this country in the coolest cars and jamming to the coolest music and lastly the genuine energy he doted on all of us.
