Gloria “Lucille” (Turner) Layfield, age 91, passed away on May 24, 2026. Lucille was born on August 27, 1934, in Pierson, Florida to Carl M. Turner and Lillian Pittman Blegan.

Lucille was a cosmetologist for over 50 years, proudly owning and operating two beauty shops in her hometown of Pierson. Outside of her profession, Lucille found great joy in gardening and cultivating beautiful flowers. She took pride in making her home, surroundings, and the people she loved beautiful. A devout Christian lady, Lucille was raised in the Methodist faith. Later in life, she became a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Pierson, where she remained active in her church community.

Lucille is survived by her children, Sharon (Ellis) Guess, Mike Layfield, Patricia (Bob) Bowen, James (Kim) Layfield, Joyce (Kevin) Beasley, and Dale (Olga) Layfield; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended family members. She was blessed to have five generations of family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 31 years, Ralph Layfield; daughter, Joan Moore; her parents, Carl M. Turner and Lillian Pittman Blegan; brothers, Carl Turner Jr. and Herbert Turner; and maternal aunt, Leota Pfeil.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM, with food and fellowship after the service, all at First Baptist Church of Pierson, 166 W. 3rd Avenue, Pierson, Florida 32180.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucille’s memory to the Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church of Pierson. Checks may be made payable to the church.
