Gloria S. Barker

Gloria Stover Barker, age 94, of Deland, Florida, passed away at home Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Gloria was born May 17, 1930 in Blue Jay, West Virginia, the daughter of Oscar Lilly and Magdalene Payne. She was brought up in the church and was an active member of Stetson Baptist Church since 1972. Gloria earned her BA degree from Stetson University. She was a teacher for over 40 years in West Virginia, Georgia, and finished her career at George Marks Elementary in DeLand. She enjoyed Gardening, traveling, cooking, sewing, and playing cards. Gloria was preceded in death by her spouse of 56 years Donald G. Barker. She is survived by her four children, Debi Carns (Chuck) of Orlando, FL, Donald G. Barker Jr. (Bonnie), Franklin A. Barker (Sandy), and Robert P. Barker (Stephanie); two brothers, Smokey and Jack Stover; 8 Grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Service will be held Monday September 16th at 10am at Stetson Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Glenn officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Stetson Baptist Church.
