GREGORY LANIS CADE
9/1/1955 - 12/28/2017
After an extended illness, Greg passed quietly into the arm of Jesus early Thursday, December 28, 2017. He is survived by his father, Paul Cade (Janet), sons Marshall (Katie) Cade of Ohio, and Richard Cade of Ormond Beach, sister Melody (Jerry) Hunter of Pierson and brother Jeff (Darlene) Cade of Hastings, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Greg grew up in Pierson and graduated from Taylor High School in 1973. As a teenager, he played little league baseball and as an adult coached the sport.
Greg served on the Town Council of Pierson and was a volunteer firefighter for a couple of years. Among his work experience, he was a fern grower in Pierson, worked for Publix in DeLand, ran a bread route for Merita, ran a flower route delivering cut greens for Shuman and most recently ran a route for Schwan. He was very happy to get the Pierson route for Schwan's so he could get back to his roots and see old friends. Greg enjoyed people and the Florida Gators. He loved cheering on the baseball and football teams with his friend Joe.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, January 4th at 4:00pm at First Baptist Church of Pierson. Online condolences may be made at www.allensummerhill.com. Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home DeLand is in charge.
