Gwendolyn Hope Masur, 75, of Orange City, FL, passed away on March 3, 2024. She was born on September 25, 1948, in Wendell, Idaho.
Gwendolyn was a kind, thoughtful, generous, and loving individual. She was known for her God-loving nature and touched the lives of many with her compassionate spirit.
She is survived by her 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, her children Anna (Jarrod) Dixon, Billie Jo (Steve) Smithey, and Jeff Smithey, as well as her siblings Kitty Carlson, Eileen Martin, Rita Meade, Marilyn Wall, Randy (Bonnie) Cler, Joyce (Ken) Huston, and Janice (Terry) Fuehrer. She is predeceased by her parents Agnes Reed and Clair Leroy Strickland, and her siblings Leroy (Judie) Strickland, Charles (Leigh) Strickland, Curtis (Robin) Strickland, and Mary Strickland.
Gwendolyn attended Mooseheart High School and later earned an AS in Medical Transcription from Florida Technical College where she graduated with her best friend Pat. She dedicated many years to her career, working at Oklahoma State University and EVAS International, where she made numerous friends. After retiring, she cherished spending time with friends and her grandchildren as often as she possibly could.
She was a devout member of First Christian Church in Deland and found joy in sewing, reading, puzzles, and being an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church, Deland, on Saturday, April 13th at 3pm with dinner to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.
