James (Jim) Lester Warner was born on July 9, 1948, in Panama City, Florida. He moved around quite a bit growing up but spent his most meaningful years with his grandparents in Alabama where he discovered his love for being outdoors.
In high school he moved to Tampa where he met the love of his life, Brenda. After graduation the two married, and Jim went on to drafting school. In 1973 they welcomed their twin girls, Janna and Jennifer, who instantly became the center of his world. Jim eventually founded Warner Roof Consulting, a business he successfully built and maintained for more than forty years and that is still in operation today.
When he and Brenda moved to Pierson eleven years ago, they joined First Baptist Pierson, where Jim became a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was deeply passionate about his faith in Jesus Christ and poured himself into every responsibility he took on. He started the Carpenter’s Ministry to provide handyman services to the community and gave generously of his time and talents.
Jim was gifted in so many ways. Whether he had a paintbrush in his hand or a tool, he created beauty and helped people. Even while battling cancer, he continued serving others. He worked on the remodeling of the parsonage and church building and even built the cross that now stands in the sanctuary, a symbol of his faith and devotion.
Teaching Sunday school became one of his greatest joys. He spent hours studying each week, always feeling the weight of the responsibility but never calling himself a teacher. He saw himself as a fellow learner and believer, growing in his faith as he read and studied the Bible. Jim was a storyteller at heart and a lover of history, and those gifts made his lessons heartfelt and meaningful. He often marveled at how the Word of God could feel so alive.
Above everything else, Jim was a family man. Nothing made him happier than time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. His love for them was deep, steady, and unwavering. He created magical memories with them and cherished every moment.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Mamie Lou Jean Warner and Cromer Ardelle Warner, and by his brother Roger.
He is survived by his wife Brenda; his daughters, Janna (David) Rodgers and Jennifer Warner; his six grandchildren, Madeline Coggins, Olivia Coggins, Jackson (Brooke) Rodgers, Landon Coggins, Savannah Rodgers, and Samuel Rodgers; and his sisters, Pamela (Rick) Seesman and Deborah (Bill) Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist of Pierson located at 166 W 3rd Ave, Pierson, FL 32180 and memo the Carpenter’s Ministry, a ministry that reflects Jim’s heart for service.
