Janet Crawford Ahrens

Janet Crawford Ahrens, 99 years old, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 3:06 pm, surrounded by family and friends. She was reunited with her late husband, Bruce Donald Ahrens, on their 77th wedding anniversary.

Janet was born on July 21, 1925, in Dedham, Massachusetts, to the late William and Blanche Thompson Crawford. Her family moved to Pelham, New York, when her father was transferred. She attended Pelham High School and Smith College. In Pelham, she met her husband Bruce, and they married on June 12, 1948.

Janet was a dietician who loved dogs, horses, and cats. She enjoyed swimming, knitting, and playing Bridge.

She is survived by two sons, John Crawford (Cindy) and William James, eight grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Donald Ahrens, her eldest son, Bruce Jeffery (Theresa), and four of her grandchildren

A celebration of her life will be held in Louisiana for family members at a later date.
