Janet Lee (Hartnett) Russell

Janet Lee Hartnett Russell, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died peacefully in her home in Deleon Springs FL on February 15, 2025. She was 87 years old.

Born in Utica, NY on March 6, 1937 she was the daughter of the late William James Hartnett Jr. and Helen Maddocks Hartnett. Janet was a graduate of the Town of Webb High School.

On June 29, 1957 Janet married Kenneth Russell and they made their home and raised their family in Old Forge NY, later moving to Deleon Springs Fl to enjoy the warmer weather.

Janet loved sewing, watching figure skating, and thrifting. She was a wonderful mother who was always there for her children offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.

Janet is survived by her three children William Russell (Cindy) of Bird Creek Ak, Laura Russell of Deleon Springs Fl, and Linda Wolford (David Rozelle) of Oneida NY, five grandchildren Chelse Cioppa, Josephina Picente, Kathleen Wolford, Benjamin Wolford, Molly Wolford, 3 great grandchildren Jakaya, Leon, and Anthony, as well as her 3 siblings William James Hartnett lll, Karen Hartnett, and Richard Hartnett. She was pre deceased by her husband Ken in 2020.

The family would like to thank her neighbors Smitty and Tom for their constant care and attention given to our Mother during her last few years. Your friendship meant a great deal to her. Additionally a very heartfelt thank you to her nephew Mark Russell who was always there for a visit or to help should our mother need anything.
