Jean Parlin Barney was ushered into the presence of the Lord Jesus on May 25, 2022. The reality of that first statement is based on her trust in Christ as Savior at an early age. She was born January 25, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from DeLand High School in 1953. A 30-year retiree from Florida Power, Jean lived in Volusia County all her life. Strongly committed to family, she enjoyed reunions and welcoming friends into her home. Her faithful connection with some friends endured for many years. Jean’s devotion to Christ was also evident in her involvement with the local church. She manifested grace, kindness, and genuine generosity to others, and in various ways was a shining example. Jean was preceded in death by husbands, Frank Hillman, Charles Barney and brother, Dale Parlin. She is survived by brothers Floyd, Ken (Joyce), and Doug (Rose Mary) Parlin, sister-in-law, Vivian Parlin, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Also, stepchildren, Charles M. Barney (Karen) Christopher Barney, Robert D. Barney, Cheryl Hodgdon (Mike) and their children and grandchildren. The family wishes to thank long time friend, Linda Hicks for her loving care and willingness to have Jean in her home during hospice care. Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, May 31st at Rima Ridge Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Rima Ridge Baptist Church, 11 Cone Rd. Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
