It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Joan Millard. She was not only a devoted mother but also a cherished sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Born Jan 26, 1937 and raised in Pennsylvania, Joan and her kids lived in Spain, Germany and Florida. She was mother to Kevin, Lisa, Amy, Julie, and Michele.
Family was at the heart of everything she did, and she built a legacy of love, traditions, and togetherness that will live on in all of us. Christmas was her favorite time of year—gathering at times over 50 loved ones to celebrate in a way that never changed, from the cherished family play to the carefully planned menu. Her love for travel took her on many adventures, but Paris held a special place in her heart, especially when shared with Kathy and her sisters.
Honoring her wishes, there will not be a formal funeral or church service. Instead, we will hold a Celebration of Life to remember and honor her the way she would have wanted. Details will be coming soon. In lieu of flowers, Joan asked that donations be made to the Klingensmith Fund, a nursing scholarship named after her mother and aunt and funded by her family: https://giving.broward.edu/donate#.VpaOQlKBKCY. Select “other” and then type in the “Klingensmith Fund”.
We will forever cherish her love, warmth, and unwavering commitment to family. Joan is survived by Kathy Auerbach, Amy Millard, Julie (Millard) Eden, daughter-in-law Sheila Millard, and many grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Rest peacefully, Mom—you will always be with us.
