John W. Harper, a resident of Deltona, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at Halifax Hospice in Orange City, Florida, at the age of 76.
Born on August 12, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, John was the beloved son of William A. Harper and Grace Wilkes. He was a graduate of Terry Parker High School and Florida Technical College.
John worked for Volusia County for 25 years. He was a civil engineer, where he designed the bike trails. He also worked with Emergency Management during hurricanes.
John enjoyed fishing, camping, going on cruises and bike riding on the bike trails. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends, listening to tribute bands, and participating in Civil War reenactments. He was a former Boy Scout and an Eagle Scout. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 12 years, Annette Harper; stepson's James Mason, Richard Smith, Roy Smith (Lanie); several grandchildren and great nieces Kassandra Gnann and Keri Gnann. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Briscoe (Jhon)
A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel, located at 126 E. New York Ave., DeLand, Florida. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM.
