John “JT” Peacock, age 84, passed away on April 15, 2026. He was born on November 21, 1941, in Eustis, Florida, to John Monroe Peacock and Alice Olivia Paul Peacock, and was a longtime resident of Seville, Florida.
From 1960 to 1998, racing was JT’s entire life. It was at the racetrack where he met the love of his life, his wife of 37 years, Barbara Peacock. His passion and dedication to the sport were recognized when he was recently inducted into the Florida Short Track Racing Legends. When he wasn’t racing, JT could be found hunting and running dogs in the woods of Florida and Georgia, and was a proud member of the Sandhill Hunt Club of Perry, Florida.
JT had a great sense of humor and found joy in the simple things, including reading, playing golf, and watching Jeopardy.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Peacock; his son, Alan Peacock (Shaye); his daughter, Manda Newbould; his grandchildren, Sarah Anderson (Kevin), Kinsey Carrion (Angel), Alec Haskins, and Zachary Williams; and his beloved miniature dachshund, Cooper.
In honor of JT’s memory, visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel, 126 E. New York Ave., followed by a time of remembrance from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, where friends and family are invited to share stories and memories.
