Josephine (Wright) Bailey

Josephine Bailey, age 83, of Deland, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Born February 14, 1941, in Carbon Hill, Alabama, Josephine was the daughter of Reverend Henry Cleophas and Julie Frances Wright. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, strong faith, and musical talent. From hairdresser to upholstery to car painter, Josephine was a “jill of all trades” and had a passion for her family and serving God. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and spent many years playing piano and singing in the Church. Josephine is survived by her sister, Becky Webb, her daughter, Lisa Chilson and her husband, Billy Chilson, her stepson, Ricky Bailey, her grandchildren, Matthew Chilson and his wife, Julia Chilson, Halle Chilson, Corey Bailey, Alicia Gurley, Heather Bailey, and Lhea Clough, sister-in-law, Margie Bailey and multiple nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by loving husband, Larry E. Bailey, her daughter, Brenda Bailey, granddaughter, Rachel Favaloro and 10 brothers and sisters. A celebration of life will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Deland, Florida at 10:00am, followed by food and refreshments.
