Judy Ann (Hicks) Basquez, age 85, of DeBary, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, at Halifax Health Hospice in Orange City, Florida.
Born on July 16, 1940, in Oconto, Wisconsin, Judy was the daughter of Clarence Vaughn "Doc" Hicks and Virginia Charlotte "Dixie" Armstrong. Throughout her childhood, she participated in the Park Avenue Circus, which was operated by her parents in Oconto. These early years sparked a lifelong love for animals, especially horses and cats, of which she had several during her life.
Judy was also a gifted artist who expressed herself through various forms of painting and drawing. Her creativity, kind heart, and deep love for animals were defining aspects of her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, Darrell Lee Basquez, and her sister, Norma Hinchcliffe.
Judy is survived by her stepson Kenneth Basquez (Linda), and step-grandchildren Jason Basquez (Susan), Jeremy Basquez (Lindsay), and Jenny Fergerson (Scott). She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Judy is lovingly remembered by her nieces Sue Baron and Sara Bahringer, as well as eight great-nieces and great-nephews. Her cherished cat, Wild Child, also survives her.
She is also lovingly remembered by several dear friends who were like family: Pam McCourt, Debbi Hager, Linda Haskell, Shelly Vollaro, and Carol Stewart.
