Luther John “Johnny” Dillard, age 82, of DeLand, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. Born on April 3, 1943, in DeLand to parents Roland F. Dillard and Goldie Phillips Dillard, Johnny was a lifelong resident who deeply loved his hometown.
Johnny retired from the Department of Transportation, where he worked as an Engineer. After retirement, he found great joy in gardening and landscaping, spending his days outdoors and tending to the beauty around him. He was known for being calm, easy-going, dependable, and truly devoted to his family. A protective family man, Johnny cherished the time he spent with those he loved. He appreciated the simple life, he loved his coffee, his recliner, and watching TV.
For more than ten years, Johnny was a member of First Church DeLand. At home, he shared a special bond with his two rescue cats, Sissy and Sassy, who will miss him dearly.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife and other half of 62 years, Nancy B. Dillard; daughters Mindy Mahieu and Alicia Bloemker (Mike); brother Ronnie Dillard (Beverly); grandsons Christopher Bloemker, Jacob Bloemker (Jordan), and Joseph Mahieu (Taylor); and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
