With heavy hearts filled with God’s love, our family announces the passing of our beloved mother and spouse Maria Juanita Cruz Martinez on September 12, 2025. She was a devout wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend; whose life radiated with grace and unwavering faith.
Maria Juanita was born on June 1, 1962 in Guadalcazar, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. As a young woman, she immigrated to the United States where she worked as a migrant laborer. From a young age, Maria lived a life of faith, hard work and service to others. She also had a great love for children. Maria went on to dedicate more than 25 years to working in childcare; where she lovingly cared for and guided countless children, nurturing them as if they were her own.
Her faith had always been the foundation of her life. A devout Catholic member of her church, the Mission of San Jose, she poured her time, energy, and spirit into her parish and the broader community. She found joy in serving others—whether through volunteering, lending a helping hand, or generously giving to those in need. She believed in others even when they didn’t believe in themselves and showed love and kindness to all who crossed her path.
Maria Juanita was the proud mother of six children, raising her family with profound love, strength, and devotion. Her exemplary resilience and generosity extended into her relationships as a grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She leaves a lasting imprint of compassion, steadfast faith, and selfless care on all her family and friends.
Those who knew her will remember Maria as a woman with a giving heart, an unshakable faith, and a spirit of service. She was a hard worker in every season of her life, never seeking recognition but always leaving a lasting impact.
Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will live on in her children, grandchildren, extended family, and all whose lives she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will remain a source of inspiration and strength.
A visitation service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at the Mission of San Jose; from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The service will be followed by an overnight vigil. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Mission of San Jose at 10:00 am. Please kindly wear white if you are attending the funeral service on Saturday. Maria Juanita will be laid to rest at Seville Cemetery beside her beloved mother.
We invite all who were touched by Maria Juanita’s life to join us in celebrating the incredible woman she was and in carrying forward her legacy of faith, service, and great love.
