Marilyn Perkins Obituary

Marilyn Frazier Perkins passed into the presence of her Savior on May 7, 2025. Born on November 30, 1937 to Frank and Lucy Frazier of Ashland, Kentucky, Marilyn arrived early and weighed only 3¾ pounds. By the grace of God, she became a healthy, happy child. In her youth the family moved to West Virginia where her father was employed by Carbide Chemical Company. Marilyn worked at Evans Grocery where she was once awarded Cashier of the Year. She went on to attend a Christian college in Pikeville, Kentucky. In 1960 she moved to Deland, Florida to assist her grandfather with his real estate business. She held many jobs throughout her adult life. She worked at a bank, and often told how she had been robbed four times. She worked at the Alling House that is now a bed and breakfast. She worked at a diner and then, coming full circle, at a Publix grocery. The true highlight of her life was when she met Jack Perkins, a retired Navy Seal. After two years of dating they were married and enjoyed forty-four years together. They lived in Barberville, Florida and owned an antique shop. Marilyn was thirteen and her brother was fourteen when the two them believed the gospel and trusted the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation. This took place on a blessed Sunday night at New Hope Baptist Church in Saint Albans, West Virginia. They were baptized two weeks later “in a cold creek.” She did not waver in her Christian faith throughout her lifetime. Marilyn Perkins is survived by her brother, Robert Frazier, two nieces, and a nephew. There will be a memorial luncheon held in her honor at The Bible Baptist Church, 872 Glenwood Road, Deland, Florida on Wednesday, May 28, at noon.
