Mary Jane (Nash) Marion, age 98, of DeLand, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. She was born on September 27, 1927, in Buffalo, New York, to Daniel Nash and Margaret Unger. She and her first husband, Richard Trometer, moved to Deland from Buffalo in 1975 where she lovingly cared for him during his illness until his death in 1982. During this time, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at the House Next Door.
She quickly embraced her new life in Deland and made many cherished friends through her community involvement at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Meals on Wheels, golfing, and playing bridge. She was an active member of the Woman’s Club of Deland for many years as well as the National Association of Widowed Persons. It was there that she met and fell in love with Lester Marion. They were married on August 3, 1985.
Jane was an avid reader, gardener, animal lover and cookie baker extraordinaire. She was an extraordinary person with a vibrant spirit who lived a faith-based life filled with kindness, grace, and compassion. Her love of family and friends sustained her and she frequently expressed her gratitude for her long and productive life where she was able to live independently until almost the end.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughters, Patricia Harder of Charlottesville, VA and Mary Trometer and husband Steven Gomes of Valley Forge, PA, son-in-law James Lewandowski of Port Orange, eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren who will cherish her memory always. She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands Richard and Les as well as a daughter, Virginia Lewandowski and son, Timothy Trometer. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God and her strength in times of hardship. She made a lasting impression on those who knew her.
