Michael (“Mike”) John Baldauff, Sr. passed away on his 81st birthday on June 14, 2024, in DeLand, FL. Mike was born on June 14, 1943, in Bensenville, Illinois. After spending his formative years in DeLand, Florida, Mike attended the University of Florida and was a lifelong Gators fan. Mike worked for years as an engineering project manager, living in South Carolina and North Carolina, before eventually settling back in DeLand, where he found his true vocation running his family's business, Volusia Monument Company. In addition to helping countless families honor their loved ones through his business, Mike also served others through his membership in the Kiwanis Club of DeLand. He enjoyed his membership in the DeLand Radio Control Club and also celebrated his beloved Gators through his membership in the DeLand Quarterback Club. Mike loved animals and had the privilege of caring for many dogs and cats throughout his lifetime, including Brooke, his standard poodle, and his two cats, Snickers and Rudy. Mike is survived by his wife, Edyth Rogers Baldauff, with whom he recently celebrated 43 years of marriage. He also is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Baldauff Hope and her husband Leonard, his son Michael John Baldauff, Jr. and his wife Kathleen, his seven grandchildren, his brothers Joe Baldauff of DeLand, FL, and Steve Baldauff of Athens, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on July 13, 2024. A memorial service will be held afterwards at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in Mike’s memory.
