Michael Bruce Finn
4/5/1954 - 1/24/2024
Mike, age 69, passed peacefully into the waiting arms of Jesus, at home surrounded by family.
He was born in Dayton, OH to Bruce and Georganne Finn. As the oldest of six, he grew up in Centerville, OH and graduated from Alter High School in 1972.
Throughout his younger life, Mike excelled in numerous sports but his favorite was baseball. He remained an avid sports fan and keeper of random facts and statistics throughout his life. After graduating, he followed in his father’s footsteps and worked as an electrician for many years.
After Mike moved to Longwood in 1982, he met the love of his life, Becky. They fell in love the night they met and spent the next forty years living a joyful life together. They lovingly partnered in raising their three children Eric, Carson and Hagen.
Mike loved spending time together with family and friends and spending time outside. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He is best remembered for his for his quick wit, humor, and playful teasing and joking with those he loved most. His laugh was infectious. He made people feel special and noticed. He was a friend to all.
Mike was always ready for a get-together and to cook up some BBQ. Over his lifetime, he prepared and served hundreds, if not thousands, of ribs, pork butt, wings, and hotdogs at home and at Sanlando United Methodist Church.
As an active member of Sanlando since 1986, Mike served in a variety of ministries over the years before becoming the Facilities Manager and “official greeter”. He faithfully attended the Saturday Morning Men’s Group and this group of friends were very special to him. Lifelong friendships made there and in the Doers Sunday School class at Sanlando provided spiritual support and love.
Throughout his illness, Mike remained devoted to what was most important to him: his faith, his family, and his many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Bruce.
In addition to his loving mother, Georganne Finn, Mike is survived by his wife, Becky Hoblick Finn, his children Eric Finn (Lisa), Carson Finn, and Hagen Finn Morin (Patrick), his grandchildren Jordyn, Jenna, and Jake Finn and Hattie and Finn Morin, his siblings Steve Finn (Deb), Chris Finn (Heidi), Cathy Finn (Jane), Melissa Aldrich (Todd), and Lori Forrand (Adam), brothers-in-law Brian Hoblick (Jill), John Hoblick (Kara), Jeff Hoblick (Cindy), aunts Reit Engel & Nancy Kacmarcik, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to share a random kindness to someone in need or a monetary donation can be made to Sanlando United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Renovation Project, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
