Michael O. Petrea (1950-2024)

Michael O. Petrea, 73, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 24th , 2024 at the Halifax Hospice Care Center, Orange City, Florida.
Michael was born in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1950 and was adopted by his parents Hawley and Lois Petrea.
In 1968, Michael graduated from Drewry-Mason High School in Ridgeway, Virginia. He went on to graduate from Danville Community College in Danville, Virginia. In 1980 Michael received a Bachelor of Engineering Technology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Michael completed his formal education in 1986 earning a Master of Science degree at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Michael was employed by Western Electric/AT&T for thirty-seven years.
Michael loved his pet cats, studying various Bibles, and playing bass guitar. An Amateur Radio Operator, Extra Class and member of the West VARS amateur radio club in Volusia County, Florida, Michael’s call sign KF4RGT has gone silent.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Patra Petrea, of Deland, Florida.
Services to remember Michael’s life will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 3rd at the Deland Campus of Deltona Alliance Church in Deland, Florida.
