Patricia Ann Lambert Butler passed away on Sunday, May 18th after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born on October 15, 1939, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to Clara Margaret (Willix) and Harry W. Lambert. She was a big sister to Kathleen (Kaki) Elaine Lambert Burns.
In 1957 Pat met Charles Joyner Butler at Southwest Baptist Church of Ft. Lauderdale. They fell in love and were married in 1961. Pat and Charles lived in New Orleans while she finished her degree at Mather School of Nursing and then moved to Macon, GA where Charles finished his degree, before relocating back to Florida. They soon began a family, and Pat became mother to Serena Lynn and Suzanne Elaine. She made sure to set up a wonderful home each time they moved around the US: Orlando, FL; Ocala, FL; Perrine, FL; Penfield, NY; Woodinville, WA; Springfield, MO; West Chicago, IL; Rogersville, MO; and DeLand, FL.
Pat had three passions in life: Jesus, her family, and quilting. She gave her life to Christ as a young girl and was always involved in church in all the places where she lived. Her passions were evident as she led Girls in Action, took part in mission activities, and supported missionaries around the world. She gave up her career in nursing to be home with her daughters as they grew up and stayed closely connected to them in their adult lives. Many family members are proud owners of quilts lovingly stitched by her. Pat also created many quilts that were donated to Project Linus, Boggy Creek, and Samaritan’s Purse.
Pat’s love of people was manifested in the countless birthday and anniversary cards she sent and the many times she hosted gatherings in her home.
Pat is survived by her husband Charles and daughters Serena Butler and Suzanne Rood (Rich); Grandson John Rood (Jessica); Granddaughter Lois Shaw (Mike); Great Grandchildren Anderson Shaw, Levi Rood, and Nellie Shaw; sister Kaki Burns (David); and many dear members of the extended family.
