Paul E Blevins (1932-2026)
Born in a humble farmhouse in East Tennessee to Frank and Winona Blevins. He was the sixth of eleven children. Each child believed they were Winona’s favorite. Along with honesty and hard work; kindness, love, and Christian values were cultivated.
At 22, he married Shelby, the love of his life and wife of 70 years. And after five years in the United States Army they built their home in DeLand where they raised four children Rodney (Karen) Blevins, Donna (Carson) Eddings, Cheri (Wayne) Haynes, and Tammy (Barry) Cooper, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are drawn to Paul and Shelby’s table where Paul’s lively stories infused with wit and wisdom flow like sweet tea. His love of nature, people, and sports fueled his recollections. After retiring from WinnDixie, Paul and Shelby traveled. His uncomplicated and easygoing manner drew many colorful friends and memories along the way. But, his favorite place was home: A seldom quiet house filled with laughter, song, family, food, and faith. Serene moments were spent at the creek with his dog. Along the path he paused for the coo of doves, the movement in the forest, and the blooms of the many plants he cultivated. A deep relationship with God and passionate love of family shaped his bold decisions and steady countenance. We called him “Superman.”
On March 28, 2026 at 10:30am we will gather at First Assembly DeLand Church to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Assembly DeLand Church’s building fund.
