Paul James Sharpe

Paul James Sharpe, 86, of Orange City passed away October 26, 2017, at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City. Paul was born in Hazleton, PA, on September 30, 1931, and grew up in Jeddo Borough, PA. He received his degree from Mount Saint Mary University. Paul played college and semi-professional baseball and served 2 years in the US Army. In 1958, Paul married Helen Brennan of Freeland, PA. He was a vice president and general manager for St. Paul Insurance Co. and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in DeLand. Paul enjoyed playing tennis and especially golf. In his later years, politics became his passion. He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 59 years; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Rebecca Sharpe, of Tigard, OR; daughter, Karen Boyd, of Baldwinsville, NY; brother, Robert Sharpe, of Lakeland, CO; 7 grandchildren; and 1 great-granddaughter. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church this Friday, November 3, at 9:30AM.
