Peggy Sue Hernandez
December 27, 1947- September 28, 2025.
Peggy was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and remained a true Brooklyn girl throughout her life. She was a catholic girl who attended St. Ambrose Catholic School. She was always close to her two sisters, Lillian & Joanne, and she did everything with them. While out with her sisters, she met Pedro Gonzalez Sr. in 1964; they hit it off immediately. She fell in love with her Puerto Rican boyfriend and then began learning Spanish and cooking traditional Puerto Rican food. A year later, they got married and had two sons: Pedro Gonzalez Jr. in 1966 and William Gonzalez in 1968.
I was always a mama's boy who cherished my mom. We were always inseparable growing up in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. They often thought I was her twin. She took me everywhere with her. I was a scrawny little boy, whom I thought was my mom's protector, but she was mine. She always took excellent care of my brother and me. She took us everywhere and did everything for us. My dad was the breadwinner in the family and didn’t have much time to spend with us, but she always did. We all had a great life. She was adored by many throughout her life, especially in Brooklyn, where she was well known to many people. She lived her entire life in Brooklyn, NY, up until her move to Florida in 2024.
When she arrived in Florida, I told her it was to live a more peaceful and quiet life. Although it was a struggle for her at first to come, she eventually gave in and began to enjoy tranquility and a different way of life, truly. My staff loved her as if she were their mother. She was fiesta at times, but they didn't care because she was Peggy. She really blossomed residing in her new home in Deltona, FL.
Peggy is now in the hands of her true love, my dad, Pedro Gonzalez Sr., whom she has loved her entire life, and with her son, Pedro Gonzalez Jr., whom she has supported through all his ups and downs. She was truly his champion.
Peggy is survived by her son, William Torres-Gonzalez, and her son-in-law, Edwin Torres-Gonzalez, whom she adored.
