Richard Clarke Obituary

Born on April 30, 1950, in Butler, PA, to Helen and Jack Clarke, Kevin was the quintessential middle child—so much so that he even went by his middle name. He embodied the best qualities of that role: loyalty, independence, peacekeeping, and an entrepreneurial spirit. He spent his early years in Hinsdale, IL, and Louisville, KY, before attending Stetson University in DeLand, FL, where he graduated in 1973. While at Stetson, he was a proud member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, forging lifelong friendships and shaping the values that guided him throughout his life.

Kevin built a successful career as a small business owner specializing in major appliance repair. Beyond his work, he dedicated much of his time to service, finding great fulfillment in his involvement as a Mason and a devoted member of the Bahia Shriners Motorcycle Unit, where he proudly served as President. One of his greatest joys was riding alongside his fellow members to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Tampa, bringing smiles and support to the children and families who needed it most. His generosity and commitment to helping others were hallmarks of his character.

Above all, Kevin cherished his family. He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Elizabeth Clarke Ritchie (Kevin) of Pelham, NY, and Carrie Clarke Fisher (John) of DeBary, FL; his beloved grandchildren, Luke and Leighton Ritchie of Pelham, NY; his brothers, Roger Clarke (Lynn) of Greenwich, CT, and Bryce Clarke (Marie) of Long Beach, CA; and his longtime partner, Cindy Evans, who brought him love and companionship.

Kevin was a true friend and brother, always ready with a helping hand, a warm smile, and a well-timed joke. His kindness, loyalty, and dedication to his loved ones and community will be remembered always.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 30, 2025, at 5pm at the Lynn Presentation Room in the Rinker Welcome Center located in the heart of Stetson University at 421 N Woodland Boulevard, DeLand, FL 32720.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, an organization close to Kevin’s heart.
