Shirlee Jefferson, age 95, passed away on February 5, 2026, in DeLand, Florida. She was born on November 9, 1930, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to the late Cyril Harold Steinmann and Kathleen Isabel Steinmann.
Shirlee dedicated most of her working life to educating young minds as an elementary school teacher. Throughout the years, she lovingly traveled across the country in support of her husband, always placing family first. Known for her wit and warm spirit, Shirlee deeply loved her family and cherished time spent with them.
One of her greatest joys was reading each evening with her husband, George, as they read aloud to one another, a reflection of the deep care and devotion they shared throughout their life together. Shirlee and George were constant companions who always looked after one another.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, George Jefferson; her sons, Richard Jefferson (Janice) and David Jefferson (Cindy); eight grandchildren; her sister Doreen Collord (Paul); and her brother-in-law, Dick Jefferson.
Shirlee will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to family, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.
