Shirley J (Hicks) Martin

Shirley J. Martin, 80, of DeLand, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at Advent Health DeLand. Born on May 21, 1945, in Stevenson, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late John N. Hicks and Dorothy Mae Stubblefield Hicks.

Shirley was a proud resident of DeLand for many years and retired from the Florida Department of Transportation after 30 years of dedicated service. She was also a committed community member, serving as a board member of the Volusia County Fair for over 20 years.

A devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, Shirley cherished time spent with her family. She was a passionate Alabama Crimson Tide football fan and brought warmth and kindness to all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter Michele Hood (Patrick), son Jeffrey Martin (Denise), sister Patricia Haynie (Luke), brothers Johnny Hicks and Ronny Hicks, and grandchildren Jacob Hood (Alexa) and Katie Hood. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Bobby Martin.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
