Sonny Brown Obituary

In Loving Memory of the Great Sonny Brown

Sonny Brown, born November 28, 1945, in Caldwell, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at 10:15 PM in DeLand, Florida, surrounded by his loving family.

Raised by his devoted mother, Iva Bell Brown, Sonny grew up with strong hands, a kind heart, and an old-fashioned sense of pride. He later settled in Orange City, Florida, where he worked tirelessly in the concrete industry – building not only foundations for homes but also the very foundation of friendships, trust, and love that shaped his life and community.

It was in Orange City where Sonny’s greatest love story began. One evening at Harry’s Bar, where Pat was the proud owner, Sonny walked in and asked her out – more than once. Pat kept telling him she didn’t date her customers, so Sonny grinned and told her he’d stop coming in. Eventually, she agreed, and they met at the beach – the start of a lifetime filled with laughter, devotion, and unshakable love. Together, they built a beautiful life side by side, proving that true love is patient, persistent, and everlasting.

Sonny was the kind of man everyone knew and no one forgot. He had a gift for conversation – the kind that made you feel like family within minutes. He loved the open road, his horses, and every ray of Florida sunshine that warmed his skin. But more than anything, he loved his people – his wife, his children, his sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and let’s don’t forget friends. To know Sonny was to know what unconditional love looked like.
