Suzanne Harper Obituary

Suzanne was born in Deland, Florida on August 9th, 1946 and grew up in Pierson. She was predeceased by her parents Herman and Clarice Raulerson and her brother Ray Daniel McCullough. She also had two beloved sisters Judy Phelps and Clarice “Petey” Ward. Suzanne graduated from T. Dewitt Taylor High School in 1964 and then graduated from Daytona State College with an Associates Degree. She married George Russell Harper II (Russ) in 1965 and assisted him in their growing fern business while raising their two sons Rusty (Beth) and Benjamin. Suzanne was a talented photographer and her family will be forever blessed with the many cherished moments captured in her timeless photographs. Spending time with and photographing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest passion.

Mom taught me (Rusty) a great love of books and reading at a young age, which was a bond we shared her entire life. Many of her birthdays were spent at the nostalgic Cross Creek home (historic site) of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, whom was a favorite author of ours. Mom was very instrumental when I started my farming operation and fern business by contacting and visiting customers on my behalf, many of which I have shipped for nearly 40 years. Her personality and vibrant communication skills were perfectly tailored to helping me with a growing business. Mom loved to travel and was able to visit many parts of the world. Her very favorite place was Bahia Honda State Park in the Florida Keys where she vacationed and stayed on a boat each summer for many years.

But most of all Suzanne loved her family. Sisters Judy, Clarice (Petey), Danny (deceased), Sons Rusty (Beth) and Benjamin, Grandchildren Jacob (Kahlin), Hillary (Thomas), Luke and Hannah (Barry and Rayann), Great-Grandchildren Hudson, Ada, George and Harper, along with the newest little Knudsen (Hillary and Thomas) due in December. We love you mom and your memory will be cherished forever until we see you again in Heaven.
