Wilma Rose Kelley

Wilma Rose Kelley, 87 of DeLand passed away early January 28, 2022. She was born in Deer Lodge, Tennessee on November 16, 1934. She came to Florida by train with her every-growing family in 1945 from Tennessee. Wilma was a Lake Helen bank teller with First Union/Wachovia Bank for many years. Prior, she was Assistant Manager of Merry Day Nursery in DeLand. Formerly, she met her Leon while working together as managers in the Mt. Dora Winn Dixie store. She was a 60-year charter member of The DeLand Sanctuary Church that she passionately loved and supported. Her favorite gifting was preparing meals and baking for her family and friends; and was noted for her mouth-watering homemade biscuits – affectionately known by her grandsons as “Hot Biscuit Granny”. Wilma is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Leon Kelley. Wilma (Boe) is survived by her son, Richard Kelley of DeLand; her daughter, Wanda Roberts of DeLand; brothers David Smith, Billy Smith, Paul Smith (Kim) and Jimmy Smith (Nancy) all of Mount Dora; sisters Bonnie Lynn of Eustis, Mary Struble of NC; and Becky Dowdy of GA; grandchildren (birth order): Heather (Mark) Omran, Cristina (Joseph) Ridenhour, Heidi (Preston) Moreau, Lindsay (Jared) Henderson, Ricky Lee (Kenzie) Kelley; Great-grandchildren (birth order): Austin, Trey, Hannah, Isaac, Jacob, Paige, Sheva, Sawyer, Kala, Owen, Ellie (on the way). She left a wonderful legacy – and now our beloved Rose is finally home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 12:30pm at The DeLand Sanctuary Church, with the family receiving friends for an hour prior to the service.
